Lego Workshop
Lego Workshop
All classes attended a Lego workshop as part of Engineers week. Here is an account of one child's experience.
We had a Lego workshop in our school. A lady called Kate gave us the workshop. She had lots of big boxes of Lego and loads of different pieces. They were sorted out into different colours. We all got the opportunity to create a castle and we could make different gardens and things for the castle.
We were all given a base plate to build on.It had 100 studs.
We could pick out our own people and decide on our weapons and things. We even had parachutes! There were some animals too.
Most people used the over lapping technique to build theirs and that means if you drop your Lego from a height it wont break!
At the end we examined each others structures and played a game. We really enjoyed the workshop and would love to do it again, for longer maybe!
Building and designing was great fun especially making sure it didn't break.
Here are some pictures from the Lego workshop.

Ipad's
Ipads
We use Ipads to help us with our Maths and English. We play different games on them. We work together to look up different things to help us with our work. We like using the Ipads. They help us with our class work.
Science Week
Science Week by Third Class
Third and fourth class went to the theatre for Science week. At the start of the show he turned on some cool music and did some tricks. First he got a giant straw and a 7up can. He turned off the music and put a book on fire! The smoke alarm went off because of the book. After that he showed us a video which had a man who had his head in a table. He did it with mirrors!Next he made a spoon and paperclip bend by putting them into boiling water.
After that he got two garden chairs and put a plank of wood on top of them. He got our teacher to lie on the wood and he took out the bottom chair. It was a bit like the teacher was floating!
He got a red piece of plastic and it turned out to be a chair. Ms. Hogan sat on it and she thought she was going to fall. He made a table out of iron bars and it folded up as small as a copybook. That was the end of our day at Birr Theatre for Science week.
It was really good fun and we learned lots of cool science experiments.
Exploring Magnets in Senior Infants
