Planting

Sow and Grow Plants- Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class.

We were learning about different plants and animals in our area. Our teacher signed up to Sow and Grow Ireland and they sent us a lovely planting pack.
We planted runner beans, carrots and cress. We used planting pots and compost.
We left our plants on the window sill so they could get some sun. We also gave them water everyday.
Plants need water, sun and love to grow. We really looked after them.
Cress grew the quickest and got really tall. After a while the runner beans started to grow. They got huge. Emilia's runner bean was halfway up the window!
Carrots were slower to grow but we could see them growing after three weeks.
We also planted some flowers and plants outside and it was great fun! We love planting!
Here are some of our favourite pictures of our plants.

Spring Walk- Bar Graph

Here is the bar graph that we used to record Senior Infants Spring walk. We used the information that Senior Infants gave us to calculate our measurements. It was fun working with Senior Infants and we got to use our Mathematical skills to help them.

Investigating Materials

First Class investigated their coats to explore what materials they are made from. They worked together and explored what material is most popular. They also designed their own coats and came up with the different materials that they would use. They made the decision to leave it waterproof or not. The most popular choice was to design a coat that would be waterproof and made from shell and acrylic.

Junior Infants exploring the Signs of Autumn

Our Autumn Walk by Junior Infants

We went  on an Autumn walk with our teacher Mrs. Kennedy.
We walked around Crinkill and it was great fun.
We saw lots of Autumn trees and leaves.
We saw yellow leaves.
We saw brown leaves.
We loved kicking the Autumn leaves.

Pie Chart

Sixth Class recorded the results from Senior Infants Spring walk and made a pie chart.

Bar Graph

Senior Infants and Sixth Class worked together to analyse their results from their Spring Walk. This allowed both classes to work together and both benefited from it.

PowerPoint

We use Power Points to present our work and find it very useful. It is a good way to display work and it is also fun when you add colours, music and pictures.
